Cha Revisited

Since first visiting Cha Canting a few weeks ago, I've been to the restaurant a couple of times and each time, I come away thinking, Cha Canting really IS the best Cantonese restaurant in town.

If you don't want to wait half an hour for a table, go to the restaurant after 8:30pm - you'll get a table after 5mins. Alternatively, while you're waiting, why not pop round to Hof - 2 doors away - and order a glass of wine from their small selection, or indulge in a small ball of chocolate heaven before your meal and slowly savour their Jasmine flavoured Chocolate Truffle.

Other recommended dishes at Cha:

Sweet and Sour Pork: The fried, crispy, lightly battered pork pieces are tossed in their vinegar, tangy, sweet sauce with crispy onions, peppers and fresh pineapple pieces. The sauce tastes exactly the same as my father's. I wonder, is the Chef there a past student of my dad's??

Steamed Pickled Vegetable Pork Biscuit: A traditional Cantonese dish that I had when I was growing up - and boy, did it remind me of home. Here, it's steamed just right and the meat just melts in your mouth.

Try the Red Bean and Rice Pudding Desert with Coconut Milk. Order it cold - it's a great combination of textures and flavours.

I've probably tried about 1/5 of the menu, only 4/5 left to go - and I can't wait!
