The Westin's August Brunch Bonanza

If you've never had the pleasure of attending a Westin brunch, I'm afraid to tell you that you've been sorely missing out on "Shanghai's best brunch buffet". Don't worry too much though, because there's plenty of time to set this unfortunate faux-pas straight. The Westin Bund Center has introduced live entertainment to their renowned brunches and with everything from a DJ to acrobats, the word brunch needn't have connotations of late morning boredom any longer.

On any given Sunday, you can head on down to the Westin and expect fantastic dishes. They like to indulge customers with a mixture of both local and international foods. These are including but not limited to caviar and foie gras; Australian lobster and Alaskan crab. However, on certain days throughout summer, the menu only gets all the more mouth-watering. The entire month worth of Sundays in August has something to offer all kinds of food lovers.

See August 7: their ‘fire and ice' brunch. A delectable combination sees seafood and meat being scorched to perfection with a variety of blazing techniques, only typical of Westin's adventurous and playful way of thinking. Out of the box and straight under the blow torch. It doesn't stop there - dry ice desserts with a hint of that fiery passion are on offer as well as chilled beverages. Be sure to try the frozen Grand Marnier cocktails.

Fancy a bit more of that hot and cold theme, but with a tad more relaxation? Visit Westin on August 14 for a day at the beach, minus all of that cumbersome sand in between your toes. Chef takes to the barbecue to ply you with succulent meats and fresh crispy salads. Wash it all down with an ice-cold beer or even a glass of wine to add that sophisticated touch.

Perhaps more a theme for the ladies amongst us is August 21, a day simply labeled ‘chocoholic'. If you're not one of those in Shanghai with a sweet tooth though, there's always the last Sunday in which the chef takes us across the world on a magnificent journey to the United States. BBQ, chili and Texmex are but some of the options one will have at Westin's southern buffet. For that extra touch of classic American taste, there will be home-made lemonade on offer too. That'll be a big hit with the kids, who are always more than welcome to stay at the Kids Club for the afternoon.

Refreshing the masses with their award-winning brunches for many months and hopefully many more to come is the Westin Bund Center. Brunch runs from 11:30-2:30pm every Sunday of the month and only costs RMB498 plus 15 percent per person, which includes free-flowing Veuve Clicquot champagne.
