Tuna musings and Jinqiao passports
This morning on the treadmill I contemplated, "Can one eat too much raw tuna, and if you have what should you do?" Last night, after a day of celebrating the Dallas Cowboy's triumphant playoff game dismembering the Philadelphia Eagles, we finally discovered Tenya. After hearing stories about this fabled Japanese restaurant serving only tuna, and the best tuna in town, we found someone to lead the way to their original small dining room off of Huashan Lu.
At Tenya they are passionate about their tuna, which is flown in from Japan. And that evening we were quite passionately devouring it. The fatty tuna -probably the pieces that pushed our bodies over the limit - was like butter as is melted in our mouths.
After ravaging three tuna sashimi platters, miso soup, and shabu shabu we gluttonously rolled ourselves out of there. That evening led to tossing and turning as our poor bodies tried to process the unexpectedly copious amounts of omega-3 fatty acids, proteins and vitamin D. Could it be the unexpected mass quantities of omega-3s cleaning up my system that wouldn't let me sleep soundly? And while I'm relatively certain that we're not showing any of the symptoms of mercury poisoning, I still felt the need to google it. Whatever caused this nauseous feeling, it wasn't pleasant. I will definitely limit my consumption of tuna in the future - even when it tastes like honey from the gods.
So, why am I musing on the treadmill? Instead of creating resolutions (Which I'll completely forget about in a few months time. And be honest, we all do this.), I've decided to set a short-term goal. As of this week I've begun training to run my first ever race. I had hoped to begin with a 5k race, but have decided to go for the 8k Jinqiao Race in March.
You're probably wondering, "Is two months enough time to get all your travel documents in order to travel to Jinqiao?" The truth is, I don't know, but I hope so. Luckily I have friends that promise to help.

My musings never led to a conclusion on how to detox from too much tuna. Any suggestions, this girl could use them!
