Dinner Entertainment
By Jeff Moger - Thursday, May 15, 2008
You're eating in a restaurant. The food is good, but the restaurant has a house band that starts up early, around eight o'clock. It's not exactly a band, it's really just a guy on a keyboard synth, with pre-recorded backup tracks and drum machine. He's more or less background music, but not so background that you can entirely ignore him. Does this sound familiar? Does the music enhance your enjoyment of the meal or does it irritate? We ask because we are doing consulting services for a restaurant in Shanghai that currently features live entertainment for their diners. We're not sure it works, but we thought we'd throw the question out there to see if any useful comments come back. If you have had an experience, good or bad, with entertainment during the meal in a restaurant in Shanghai please share it in the comments below. And don't forget to hit the poll. It's on the front page, and it's related. Thanks.
