Number 5 Bistro is a combined bistro, lounge and bar providing a comfortable, laid-back setting and affordable prices despite its fancy address. Here, you come to have a meal, have a drink, play pool and relax after a long day.
The bistro is located in the basement of The Bund No. 5, which is a little odd in that wining and dining in this area typically involves a view, but it fills a niche in offering a more casual, relaxed feeling than some of its neighbours. The interior has just been renovated with warm colors, over-sized arm chairs, modern dining tables and a long bar. There's also a great game area offering free pool, foosball, shuffleboard and darts.
Your wallet will love this place too as most dishes are well under the 100RMB mark. The food has an international appeal, with the typical bar fare included plus a few stand-out Asian dishes in the mix. We tried the bruschetta (28RMB), the Caesar salad (48RMB), the grilled cod fillet (78RMB), the pizza supreme (10"/58RMB) and the BBQ pork spare ribs (88RMB). Everything was great, but a big gold star goes to the spare ribs. They were absolutely fabulous, so tender that the meat just about fell off the bones. Go on Wednesday night when they offer an all-you-can-eat ribs deal for 280RMB (includes sides and free-flow beer) or May 22nd to celebrate their official grand opening with canapés and all you can drink for 150RMB.

The Bottom Line: A casual Bund hangout great for happy hour pints after work or an easy, convenient, and inexpensive dinner.
