Bamboo

Located on the 6th floor among many other eateries in Xujiahui's Grand Gateway shopping plaza, Bamboo could easily be overlooked. However something about the chocolate brown velvet seating tempts you to stop by and give it a try. Individual booths with mini lamps create a relaxed and private atmosphere making it an ideal place to unwind after a hectic shopping trip.
In the classic style of a Japanese restaurant one can watch the chef's hard at work as they prepare interesting and tasty Japanese dishes. Salami Salad filled with salami, Parma ham, tomatoes and drizzled in sesame oil, has a strong flavour and is a nice option for a light starter. The Assorted Sashimi, delicately presented, contains tuna, red snapper, salmon and prawns and can be ordered in different sizes, the largest 17 pieces 110RMB. Unusually named, Roasted on a Hot China Ware, great value at 60RMB, was a novel dish presented in a candle style hot pot with mushrooms, scallops and prawns coated in a scrumptious sauce. Those with a love of teriyaki sauce will not be disappointed with the beef Sukiyaki 80RMB served with a delicious runny egg dip.
Despite its location Bamboo manages to maintain modest prices, its menu provides a extensive Japanese cuisine mix and it is a great place to get a sushi fix.
