Supreme Thai

The ever growing number of Thai restaurants springing up in Shanghai often means that one has to do something fancy with its décor or name to en'thai'ce the crowds. Supreme Thai in this sense is completely unremarkable. With a notably simple décor and name it must rely on its food and food alone to draw in the customers.
Located near the top of one of the many shopping centres on Huaihai Zhong lu you're not likely to stumble across this one by accident. However with a window spanning the length of the restaurant you'll find sanctuary from the busy traffic below or a welcome escape from a stressful day at work. If the calming atmosphere doesn't soothe then the 25-39RMB lunch set inclusive of a drink, soup, a main dish, rice and fruit might do the trick!
Nicely presented dishes set you up befittingly for an enjoyable meal. The 'Tord Man Pla' (shrimp fish cakes) had a sweet, powdery coating which, between you and me, made them rather more-ish - I definitely ate more than my fair share! For lovers of spice the green curry will tingle your taste buds with a real kick in its aftertaste and the Nuar Yaang Jim Jeaw (grilled beef) was meltingly tender. Try their specialty Thai tea. It's 'cha'rming.
Supreme Thai may not be the place to woo a loved one or celebrate a grand occasion but keep it in mind when you're in the area and wanting a decent hassle free Thai meal.
